The U of A Children's Choir (UACC) invites young singers from across Northwest Arkansas to participate in the U of A Children's Choir Day Camp, taking place June 29-July 3 on the U of A campus.
Open to incoming 2nd through 12th graders, the week-long day camp offers an engaging, inclusive choral experience for students of all musical backgrounds. Campers will take part in choral ensemble rehearsals, group vocal lessons and expert-led instruction in a supportive summer-camp environment designed to build confidence, musicianship and community.
"We are so excited to host another University of Arkansas Children's Choir Day Camp," said Carla Summers, director of the U of A Children's Choir. "The summer camp is a great way to get children involved in music because all incoming 2nd through 12th graders are able to join, regardless of their experience in choir. We do a fast-track way of learning music—we teach students how to have good vocal tone production in a summer-camp environment. Most of the time we learn music and choreography, and one segment of each day consists of a fun activity. It's not too late to join, and we hope to see you there!"
Camp Highlights Include:
- Choral ensemble rehearsals
- Group vocal instruction
- Expert teaching from exceptional area choral educators
- Support from U of A choral education majors
- A head start on All-Region and All-State choir skills
- Daily lunch on campus
- A free camp T-shirt
- Opportunities to meet and collaborate with singers from across Northwest Arkansas
In addition to music-making, campers will enjoy daily activities such as tie-dye, ice cream and karaoke, and outdoor field games, fostering creativity and friendships. The week concludes with a final concert performance for family and friends, showcasing the campers' musical growth.
