Students are invited to take part in a hands-on opportunity to improve one of the world's most widely used information sources during the Wikipedia Edit-A-Thon from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, in the Mullins Library Event Space.

Hosted by the U of A Libraries in partnership with the Honors College, the event is part of Undergraduate Research Week and is open to all members of the campus community.

Participants can drop in at any time throughout the day to learn how to edit Wikipedia articles and contribute reliable, well-researched information to a global audience. Librarians will be available to guide attendees through the editing process, including how to find credible sources and add meaningful context to existing entries.

"Wikipedia is consistently one of the most visited websites across the world every day, so participating in an event like this is an easy and fun way to make a huge impact," said Kelsey Molseed, Health Sciences librarian. "Anyone can participate—no experience necessary."

The event is designed to be accessible for beginners while still offering value to those with more experience. Attendees will gain practical research skills, learn about evaluating sources and leave with a better understanding of how information is created and shared online.

In addition to learning new skills, participants can enjoy free food and drinks while contributing to a collaborative, knowledge-building effort.

Organizers encourage students to stop by between classes, bring friends and take part in an event that combines research, digital literacy and community engagement.
