To prepare for National Stop the Bleed Month, the University of Arkansas Police Department (UAPD) is encouraging the campus community to learn a simple skill that can save a life.
Severe bleeding can lead to death in just minutes—often before first responders arrive. In many emergencies, the person closest to the victim is the one who can make the difference. Knowing how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and take immediate action can mean the difference between life and death.
UAPD is offering two free Stop the Bleed training sessions, open to all members of the campus community:
Wednesday, April 8 | 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Arkansas Union, room 507
Thursday, April 23 | 1 - 2 p.m. at Bell Engineering, Imholf Lounge, room 4008
No registration is required.
Stop the Bleed training equips participants with the skills to control bleeding using direct pressure, wound packing and tourniquets. These are simple techniques anyone can learn—no medical background required.
The goal of the national Stop the Bleed initiative is to empower everyday people to become "immediate responders." In an emergency, you are more likely to be the first person on scene. Being prepared means you can act confidently and potentially save a life.
Take an hour. Learn the skills. Be ready when it matters most.
