The Journal of Food Law & Policy is proud to announce second-year U of A School of Law student Brock Conklin as its new editor-in-chief for the 2026-27 academic year.
"Since the beginning of this school year, while serving as a staff editor, it has been one of my goals to be selected as the next editor-in-chief," Conklin said. "For that to come to fruition is a special honor and a surreal experience. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to lead the Journal and hope to continue bolstering its legacy."
Mary Eichenberger, the current editor-in-chief, praised the selection, noting, "Brock was chosen because of his exceptional leadership skills, passion for food law and policy, and dedication to the mission of the Journal. Additionally, his work ethic and commitment to excellence make him the ideal candidate to lead the Journal of Food Law & Policy. I am confident that the incoming editorial board will elevate the Journal to new heights and ignite curiosity in food law and policy."
Reflecting on the Journal's impact, Conklin added, "The Journal of Food Law & Policy has given my classmates and me the ability to contribute to the publication of high-quality, prestigious scholarly works in the realm of food and agricultural law. Further, the Journal has given us the opportunity to write about a remarkable array of interests and to create work that we are proud of. For many of us, the Journal has served as a platform to address and advocate for real-world change, an opportunity we might not otherwise have during our time in law school."
A native of Joplin, Missouri, Conklin graduated, summa cum laude, from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. At the law school, Conklin serves as a Law Alumni Society Ambassador, president of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association and treasurer of the Food and Agricultural Law Society. He currently works as a law clerk for RMP LLP Attorneys at Law and will spend his summer with Conner & Winters and Kutak Rock.

Since its inaugural issue in 2005, the Journal of Food Law & Policy has been recognized as a national leader in publishing scholarship on food law and its impact on society. At a time when no other student‑edited journal focused solely on food law and policy, the Journal played a pioneering role in shaping the emerging discipline. Today, it continues to publish cutting‑edge scholarship on topics including food labeling and safety, consumer interests, environmental impacts of food production, agricultural law, global food security, nutrition policy, animal welfare, international food law, biotechnology regulation and other critical issues shaping the modern food system.
