The nomination period for the 2026-2027 Staff Senate elections is now underway, marking the beginning of a new opportunity for staff to engage in shared governance and help shape decisions that impact the University of Arkansas community.
Nominations for Staff Senate positions are now open for all full-time staff members. Nominations will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25.

Staff members interested in shaping policies and procedures to better serve University of Arkansas staff are encouraged to consider running for Staff Senate. All 100% appointed staff members may nominate an employee to represent their division or to serve as an at-large representative.
Nominees are required to have worked for the university for a minimum of one year as of Jan. 31, 2026, have the support of their supervisor and receive at least two nominations to appear on the election ballot. Please be sure to confirm interest with individuals before submitting nominations.
Staff Senate time commitments include one meeting per month, with additional involvement in occasional subcommittee meetings and service throughout the year, including the annual Staff Celebration Picnic and Staff Appreciation Week in the spring. Those interested in running should promote themselves within their division and encourage coworkers to submit nominations. Individuals receiving the highest number of nominations within their category, with a minimum of two nominations, will be placed on the election ballot.
Eligible nominees will be contacted via email to confirm participation in the Staff Senate election. Nominees who accept candidacy may submit a platform statement and photo for publication on the Staff Senate website for campus review during the election period, which will occur

(Includes the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Research Administration, Tech Ventures, UA Press, and related units) - University Advancement — one opening
(Includes University Advancement, Industry Engagement, Arkansas Alumni Association, and related units) - Finance and Administration Division — four openings
(Includes Facilities, UAPD, Transit and Parking, Business and Financial Affairs, Human Resources, Business Affairs, IT Services, and related units) - Student Affairs Division — two openings
(Includes Pat Walker Health Center, Arkansas Union, Housing, Student Activities, Greek Life, University Recreation and related units) - At-Large Representatives — three openings
