Test of Subhead Formats, Styles and Sizes

Normal Text Options

Below are examples of various options we have for text in the news story pages. We use some of them frequently, like the bulleted list and the H3 Subhead. Others have never been touched, but can be used if we need a particular effect. We have eight options for font:

  • Normal
  • Italic
  • Underline
  • Underline italic
  • Bold
  • Bold Italic
  • Underline bold
  • Underline bold italic

Bulleted Lists

Here's the first, a bulleted list (note that the text in a bulleted list is slightly grayer than normal text):

Bullet changed to squares:

And with circle:

Ordered List

And here's a numbered list, which can be changed from the decimal style here to Roman or lower Roman or to Alpha style:

  3. Duis aute irure dolor in reprehenderit in voluptate velit esse cillum dolore eu fugiat nulla pariatur.

Pull Quote

Pull quote looks italic on editing side but is normal sans serif when viewed post-publication:

Headline Formats

The H1 through H6 headline styles make the entire subhead uppercase. It appears that extra spacing has been added to the H2 and H3 headers. By the time we get to either H4 or H5, the subhead text ends up smaller than the normal text so isn't much value.

H1 - quis nostrud exercitation

H2 - quis nostrud exercitation

H3 - quis nostrud exercitation

H4 - quis nostrud exercitation

H5 - qui nostrud exercitation
H6 - qui nostrud exercitation
"Formatted" Type Bold — This format places a box around the text and fills with a gray background. Text size can be changed as needed.
"Address" Format – which goes flush left

"Normal (div)" Format

Type Styles

Most of these have a style applied that might include a specific size, weight or font but the last four don't appear to have had any special treatment and instead look like normal text.
