The University of Arkansas Master of Athletic Training Program is excited to host the 20th Annual Razorback Sports Medicine Symposium on Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Hillside Auditorium. The theme for this didactic and interactive symposium is "An Interprofessional Approach to Overhead Athlete Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation" and will focus on prevention strategies and rehabilitation interventions for sport-related upper extremity injuries. This interprofessional symposium welcomes collaborative efforts to improve health-related quality of life outcomes in physically active people and is commonly attended by athletic trainers, physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Topics include:

  • Biomechanics of Overhead Movement Patterns
  • Overhead Athlete Injury Prevention and Maintenance
  • The Role of Sports Science in Baseball
  • Overhead Athlete Rehabilitation Perspectives
  • Prevention and Rehabilitation of Elbow Injuries in the Overhead Athlete
  • Return to Play Considerations and Testing for the Overhead Athlete

6.5 Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer Inc. (BOC) continuing education units and Arkansas Physical Therapy Association (APTA Arkansas) are provided. All sports medicine professionals, including students, are welcome to attend.
