Panel Explores Opportunities to Visit Chicago's Newberry Library

The U of A community is invited to a panel discussion about research opportunities at the Newberry Library in Chicago, set for 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, in Mullins Library room 439.

The event will feature speakers Zainab Aldaoseri, M.A. student in English; Daniela D'Eugenio, assistant professor of Italian; Annie Doucet, assistant professor of French; Liz Villamizar, Ph.D. candidate in comparative literature and cultural studies; and Kailee Rowe, undergraduate student majoring in history and classical studies.

Martha Anderson, director of organizational development and head of digital services for the University Libraries, will moderate the conversation.

Panelists will share their experiences conducting research at the Newberry Library, discuss the application process and highlight how the U of A can help support trips for faculty members, librarians and students.

"With this event, we aim to make the community aware of research opportunities in the humanities at the Newberry Library," D'Eugenio said. "Our partnership with the library allows us to take advantage of these opportunities more easily and with partial funding."

The discussion is presented in collaboration with the World Languages, Literatures and Cultures Department; University Libraries; the Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies Program; the English Department; and the Medieval and Renaissance Studies Program. Refreshments will be offered courtesy of Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies.
