Chancellor Robinson Serving as Co-Chair of NWA Council
This week, Chancellor Charles Robinson begins his one-year term as presiding co-chair of the Northwest Arkansas Council, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing economic opportunity, workforce development, infrastructure, healthcare and quality of life in the region.
The council was founded in 1991 by business leaders including Sam Walton, Don Tyson and J.B. Hunt. It has played a key role in infrastructure improvements such as the establishment of the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport, the development of the Interstate 49 corridor and ongoing efforts to ensure that NWA's water supply keeps pace with its population growth.
"I'm looking forward to serving as co-chair and working with our region's leaders to expand opportunity and improve quality of life for all who call Northwest Arkansas home," Robinson said. "The University of Arkansas is deeply invested in the success of our state and region, and I'm eager to help the council advance initiatives that make Northwest Arkansas an even better place to live and work."
As presiding co-chair, Robinson will oversee the NWA Council's agenda as it seeks to foster regional prosperity by addressing issues such as housing affordability, infrastructure development and sustainable land-use planning.
Robinson has served on the Council's Executive Committee since 2021, alongside representatives of the region's largest employers. In addition to the U of A, the council's 100+ members include Walmart, J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Tyson Foods, Simmons Foods and Arvest Bank.
