Lexi Workman-Avent, an administrative specialist in the U of A's Department of Animal Science since 2021, has been named associate director of creative services for the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences.

Workman-Avent provides a strong background in digital communications and content creation, along with a proven record of successful project management and event promotion to the college's dean's office staff.

She joins the Bumpers College communications team after previously working as an administrative specialist in the Department of Animal Science for four years. In that role, she played a leading part in building the department's communications and outreach efforts.

During her tenure, she researched, wrote and created multimedia content for the department's digital platforms, managed its social media accounts, and designed and published the annual newsletter. She also helped lead the planning and execution of signature events, including the successful inaugural "Boots, Brews & BBQ" fundraiser.

"I am honored to contribute to the Bumpers College mission of improving the quality of life for Arkansans," she says. "I'm excited to use creative storytelling and design to share how we prepare students for successful careers and how our impactful research promotes viable food systems, sustainable environments and vibrant communities across the state."

Workman-Avent's background is rooted in a passion for communicating agricultural and life sciences to a broader audience, which drove her interdisciplinary focus in college.

She earned her bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies with a focus in marketing and crop & soil management from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2019.
