Open Enrollment for the 2026 plan year will begin Monday, Oct. 20, and run through Monday, Nov. 3. This is the annual opportunity for benefits-eligible employees to review, select or make changes to their benefits elections for the upcoming year. All elections are made through Workday.  

While most core benefits remain consistent, there are a few important updates to be aware of this year. 

What's Changing in 2026? 

Several plan adjustments will take effect in 2026, including deductible and copay increases across the Classic, Premier and Health Savings medical plans. For example, the Classic Plan's individual deductible will increase from $1,350 to $1,400, and specialist visit copays will rise from $55 to $60. The Premier Plan and Health Savings Plan will see similar increases. A full breakdown is available in the 2026 Decision Guide. 

The Live Well Reward$ Wellness Program also has updates for 2026: 

• Current participants and eligible employees must enroll between now and Nov. 3 to continue earning rewards in 2026.

• Employees must have been enrolled in university medical benefits by Oct. 1 to be eligible to participate for the 2026 program year. 

• Points must be used by Nov. 30 for the 2025 program, or they will be forfeited.​ 

Get Support for Open Enrollment

The U of A System's Virtual Benefits Fair is currently available for all U of A employees. This online resource offers helpful videos, plan comparisons and vendor information, and will remain available throughout the Open Enrollment period. 

The U of A System Benefits Office has also launched a redesigned website to make benefits information more accessible and easier to navigate. The site now includes an event calendar and a blog  focused on timely updates and helpful resources for employees. 

The benefits team in the Office of Human Resources will also host virtual office hours leading up to and through Open Enrollment. Visit the campus events calendar for more information.  

Employees are encouraged to proactively review these changes and be ready to make any changes when open enrollment begins Oct. 20.
