The annual Constitution Day lecture, hosted by the Department of Political Science, is set to be delivered this evening. Presented at 4:30 p.m. in Giffels Auditorium, Karen Sebold will lecture for around an hour with time for questions.

Constitution Day is observed every year to celebrate the ratification of the United States Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787. The Political Science Department traditionally sees one volunteer professor give a complimentary lecture on the United States Constitution from either an American perspective or a comparative international perspective.

Professor Sebold, an expert in campaign finance law and American politics, last delivered the Constitution Day lecture in 2020 via Zoom. This year's lecture is an update of the presentation, in which Sebold covered the role of money in politics and how constitutional amendments have enabled wealth to influence elections. In addition to covering new participants in the Billionaire Donor Club, Sebold will discuss the threat that unchecked money poses to the First Amendment.

The lecture is set to begin at 4:30 p.m. in Giffels Auditorium (Old Main 201). Cookies and coffee will be provided by Rick's Bakery.
