Annual Notification of Alcohol & Other Drug Information

The Drug-Free Schools and Campuses Regulations require that the university must certify that it has adopted and implemented a program to prevent the unlawful possession, use or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees. To comply with these certification requirements, the U of A Substance Abuse Prevention Program has compiled the following set of policies and other information for distribution to and review by all campus community members.  

The U of A is required by law to notify annually all students, faculty and staff regarding alcohol and other drug policies, sanctions and risks associated with substance use. 

This notification provides the campus community with the following information: 

  1. Drug and alcohol programs available to employees and/or students 

  1. Health risks associated with alcohol abuse and illicit drug use 

  1. Standards of conduct and disciplinary sanctions for students regarding alcohol and drug use 

  1. Arkansas alcohol- and drug-related laws

At the U of A, we strive to provide a teaching and learning environment that supports healthy choices for living and fosters student and employee success. Included in the choices that confront everyone are decisions about the use of alcohol and other substances. Substance Education, Assessment, & Recovery: SEAR is dedicated to educating and empowering students to make informed decisions regarding alcohol and drug use and providing leadership and advocacy to enhance the wellness of the campus community. Razorback Recovery Community: RRC seeks to provide an environment of support for students in or seeking recovery, as well as students who have friends or family struggling with addiction. The RRC aims at creating an environment where every student can find peer support as they navigate their college experience. Razorback Recovery offers weekly peer support groups, weekly workshops (Tuesdays at noon: HLTH 1116) and wellness Wednesday activities at 1:30 p.m. in HLTH 2108. Peer support groups are every Thursday 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the RRC Lounge in Pat Walker Health Center Suite 2132 and is open to anyone looking for support. Razorbacks Offering Accountability Resources: The goal of the student organization Razorbacks Offering Accountability Resources, or ROAR, is to create student-led initiatives (e.g., public service announcements, bystander intervention, engaging and interactive events and speakers, involvement with Greek life during Alcohol Awareness Week and Sober Spring Break) that reduce alcohol misuse and abuse behaviors among a variety of student populations. ROAR members will be involved in a campus-wide effort to help U of A's students make better choices regarding alcohol usage. 

SEAR Ambassadors: The main goal of the SEAR Ambassadors' student organization is to promote education, outreach and harm reduction over substance use and abuse across the student, faculty and staff population of the U of A and the city of Fayetteville. The SEAR Ambassadors will also act as a platform for interaction and training, service hours and educational programming for substance use. END Overdose: The goal of the student organization END Overdose is to prevent drug-related overdose deaths through education, medical intervention and public awareness. We aim to equip the community with life-saving tools, raise awareness of the opioid epidemic and advocate for harm-reduction policies.
