Maple Street Construction Continues, Lane Closure Over Fall Break
As the Maple Street Safety Improvement project continues, there will be some areas affected in the coming weeks as crews make progress on the utilities and new features of the road.
The first closure will temporarily close the eastbound lane of Maple Street from Storer Avenue to Leverett Avenue. The work is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, and continue through the end of the day on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
During this period, two-way traffic will be managed by flaggers. The closure will be active only while the contractor is on site and will be lifted at the end of each workday to restore full access.
Secondly, starting Oct. 13, crews will begin the installation of new senior walk space and a dedicated bicycle lane along the south side of Maple Street, extending from approximately 300 feet east of the Maple/Leverett intersection to the east side of the Pi Beta Phi gate. As a result of this construction, the north accessible entrance to Memorial Hall will be temporarily closed for approximately six weeks.
Signs will be placed at the east and west ends of the closed sidewalk section, directing pedestrians to the south ADA entrance of Memorial Hall.
