Bug Crawl Event Info

The Entomology and Plant Pathology Department in partnership with Historic Cane Hill will again host a day of fun in the sun with bugs crawling into the spotlight!

The Bug Crawl is an insect collecting event that encourages families and folks of all entomological interest and skill to come and take their shot at catching as many different kinds of bugs as they can from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this coming Saturday, Aug. 23, on the beautiful grounds of Historic Cane Hill (about 30 minutes southwest of Fayetteville).

Prizes will be awarded to participating teams based on the range of insect types they successfully capture. Specimens will be identified by faculty and students of the Entomology and Plant Pathology Department, and teams will have the option of keeping their insects, releasing them, or — for a select few — adding them to the Historic Cane Hill reference collection.

This year will include community partner booths from The Scott Family Amazeum, Illinois River Watershed Partnership, ENTO-ROADSHOW and Arkansas Arthropods LLC. As an additional treat, 3 Chicks Consessions will have lunch options available on site, and, for the first time ever, the Happy Booksters Bookmobile will be present, along with local musical legends The Backyard Bugs performing live on stage!

Even if bugs aren't necessarily your thing, there will be plenty of music, nature and history to spark your inner crawler! This is a no-cost event, but teams are highly encouraged to register ahead at Ozark Bug Crawl 2025 - Historic Cane Hill Arkansas. We hope to see you there!
