A participant in the summer acarology courses chooses a slide to examine.

Collaboration between Ashley Dowling, an internationally known acarologist at the U of A, and Professional and Workforce Development at Global Campus is featured in this week's post on The Online Learner blog published by the Global Campus.

Acarology is the study of mites, and Dowling runs summer courses, with the assistance of Professional and Workforce Development, to share his knowledge of these tiny arachnids that have a large impact internationally. Dowling and instructors he brings in from across the United States present this training to acarologists worldwide, another way the U of A meets its public land-grant mission of providing value and positive impact to Arkansas and beyond.

Dowling teaches in the Dale Bumpers College of Agricultural, Food and Life Sciences and is a researcher and scientist with the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station, the research arm of the U of A System Division of Agriculture.
