International Conference Celebrates 70th Birthday of Distinguished Professor in Mathematics

John Ryan, Distinguished Professor emeritus of mathematics, was honored at a recent conference on Complex and Hypercomplex Analysis, held at Anhui University in Hefei, China, on May 10-11.

Ryan delivered the opening talk, titled "On Dirac-Type Operators: A Review." The conference featured presentations by professors from many of China's top universities, showcasing some of the latest advancements in Clifford Analysis and Several Complex Variables — areas in which Ryan is highly regarded. The event was co-organized by Chao Ding, a Ph.D. graduate of the U of A and a former student of professor Ryan.

During his time in China, Ryan also gave talks at Macau University of Science and Technology, Zhejiang University and the University of Science and Technology of China.
