The U of A proudly recognizes the achievements of Cohort 5 of the UARK Leaders Program, an immersive six-month leadership development experience designed to empower faculty and staff in leading people and advancing institutional excellence.

Through a "One University" lens, each UARK Leaders cohort is composed of leaders representing a broad cross-section of campus departments coming together to cultivate their leadership skills through collaboration, education, exposure and experience. UARK Leaders equips participants with tools to navigate complex challenges and contribute to the university's strategic priorities of student success, research excellence and enhancing its status as an employer of choice.

Selected through a rigorous nomination and interview process, this cohort embarked on their journey in October, engaging in professional development sessions, self-assessments, coaching experiences and collective projects aimed at addressing real-world campus challenges. The program's hallmark component, the action learning projects (ALPs), provided each team with an opportunity to work collaboratively to recommend solutions for significant university issues and initiatives, fostering innovation and strategic problem-solving.

"As we continue strengthening our position as an employer of choice, UARK Leaders creates opportunities for leaders to foster collaborative relationships and enhance their leadership competencies," said Amy Ochoa, associate vice chancellor of human resources. "Our goal is to ensure employees have the resources to grow, contribute and thrive in their careers."

With their dedication, creativity and leadership, Cohort 5 joins a growing network of UARK Leaders alumni, ready to make lasting contributions to the university community. Their efforts exemplify the qualities that drive the U of A forward.

"It's inspiring to witness the transformation of each cohort, from their first small group discussions to their final ALP presentations to university leadership," said Ashley Ingram, director of talent development, talent management and engagement. "Each year, we refine and evolve the program to ensure it remains responsive to campus needs and aligns with the university's strategic vision."

Cohort 6 of the UARK Leaders Program for the 2025-26 academic year is slated to begin in October, with nominations set to open in the summer of 2025. To learn more about the UARK Leaders Program, please reach out to Anne Shelley, assistant director of talent and leadership development.
