Arkansas Academy of Civil Engineering Welcomes 45th Class of Inductees
The Arkansas Academy of Civil Engineering held its annual induction ceremony on Friday, April 11, at the Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Springdale. This year marks the academy's 45th induction class, welcoming 14 accomplished professional engineers as active members and one posthumous honorary member.
Founded in 1980, the academy recognizes outstanding civil engineering professionals who have made significant contributions to the field through leadership, innovation and service. Membership is awarded based on career achievement, professional engagement and dedication to the advancement of civil engineering. Members of the academy represent a cross-section of leaders in industry, government, academia and research.
The 2025 inductees are:
- Nathan Becknell, P.E. - Principal, Traffic Engineering Consultants, Inc.
- David Berry, P.E. - President, Geotechnical & Testing Services
- Stacy Burge, P.E. - District Engineer, Arkansas Department of Transportation
- Jon Honeywell, P.E. - Director of Public Works, City of Little Rock
- Shannon Jones, P.E. - Senior Project Manager, McClelland Consulting Engineers, Inc.
- Richard Mills, P.E. - State Airport Engineer, Arkansas Division of Aeronautics
- Matthew Moix, P.E. - Civil Engineer, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
- Johnathon Mormon, P.E. - Staff Maintenance Engineer, Arkansas Department of Transportation
- Julia Phillips, P.E. - Director of Transportation Systems, BGE, Inc.
- Jeremy Shores, P.E. - Principal and Vice President, Hawkins-Weir Engineers
- Keith Tencleve, P.E. - Director of Innovation and Business Support, Garver
- Finley Vinson, P.E. - Central Arkansas Manager, Traffic Engineering Consultants
- Kevin White, P.E. - Division Head - Right of Way, Arkansas Department of Transportation
- Seth Yancey, P.E. - Construction Services Team Leader, Garver
- Honorary Member - Alice Dong, P.E. (posthumous) - Senior Bridge Design Engineer, Arkansas Highway Transportation Department
The academy not only honors distinguished professionals but also places a strong emphasis on supporting future civil engineers. The academy provides mentorship, networking events like "Evening with the Pros" and scholarship opportunities to civil engineering students at the U of A. For the 2024-25 academic year, the academy awarded scholarships to 78 students. Over the course of the induction weekend, members raised nearly $90,000 in support of scholarships and departmental initiatives.
During the banquet, the academy also recognized three outstanding undergraduate students for academic excellence:
- Lauren Johnson - E. Walt LeFevre Outstanding Senior
- Bailey Jarvis - Outstanding Junior
- Jamison Lord - Outstanding Sophomore
The next Arkansas Academy of Civil Engineering induction weekend is scheduled for April 17, 2026.
