Empowerment Celebration to Raise Awareness for Sexual Assault Prevention

The U of A Housing SPEAK team is proud to host the Empowerment Celebration from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, on the Union Mall. This campuswide event brings together both on- and off-campus organizations to raise awareness for sexual assault prevention and support survivors through education, outreach and empowerment.

The Empowerment Celebration marks the culmination of Together We Move, a month-long initiative where students log their miles running, walking or moving in solidarity with survivors during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The event celebrates the community's collective effort to make visible the ongoing work of prevention and support — one step at a time. If you would like to log hours for your time spent moving for SAAM, use the UREC Wellness website here

Students are invited to connect with local advocacy groups, campus resources and student organizations that are leading efforts to combat sexual violence and promote safe, inclusive environments. Attendees can expect interactive tables, enter a raffle for a gift basket and have opportunities to engage in meaningful conversations.

"This event is about building community, sharing resources and reminding survivors they are not alone," said organizers with SPEAK. "We want to create a space where empowerment and education go hand in hand."

The event is open to all current students, and participation is free.
