Cathy Krane is the new director of enterprise risk management at the university. Krane will collaborate with campus leadership, faculty and staff to proactively identify, assess and manage risks impacting the university. ERM provides a framework for university leadership to manage existing and emerging risks, enables risk-informed decision-making and enhances transparency across the university.

Krane previously served as assistant vice president of risk management at Louisiana State University and held a similar prior role at the University of Oklahoma. She also spent 17 years at Great West Casualty Company working as an attorney before becoming a subrogation manager. Throughout her career, she has excelled in areas such as insurance law, property and casualty insurance, litigation management, subrogation and liability. Her skills include developing and implementing training, as well as facilitating mediation and dispute resolution.

She earned both a Bachelor of Arts in political science and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville - where she teaches a law and courtroom procedure course to middle-school students during the summer.

Krane is certified as a Senior Claim Law Associate by the American Educational Institute, Inc. She will work within the Division of Finance and Administration and report to Ann Bordelon, executive vice chancellor for finance and administration.

"I'm excited to welcome Cathy to our team and for what she will bring to our university," Bordelon said. "Her experience and knowledge of risk management strategies will benefit everyone on our campus by allowing us to make informed decisions as we develop a risk-intelligent culture. She will be a great resource for our people at all levels of the organization."
