Teal Tuesday: Taking Every Action to Learn During Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is recognized as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), a time dedicated to increasing public awareness and promoting education about the prevention of sexual violence. One way this awareness is highlighted on college campuses is through Teal Tuesday, when individuals are encouraged to wear teal—the official color of SAAM—as a sign of support for awareness efforts.

This year, the EO & Title IX Office is using the acronym T.E.A.L.Taking Every Action to Learn—to emphasize the importance of ongoing education and engagement around issues related to sexual assault prevention and response.

  • T - Taking time to learn about the impact of sexual violence and the importance of consent.
  • E - Every person has a role to play in contributing to a safer and more informed community.
  • A - Action can include participating in trainings, seeking out resources or sharing information with others.
  • L - Learn about campus policies, procedures and available support services.

To help promote Teal Tuesday, the EO & Title IX Office will place teal ribbons and stickers in various locations around campus.

  • Administration Building - 1st floor
  • Silas Hunt Building
  • Pat Walker Health Center, 1st floor
  • Mullins Library
  • Multicultural Center, Arkansas Union, 4th floor
  • UAPD, Administrative Service Building
  • Cordia Harrington Center for Excellence (CORD), 1st floor
  • 1021 Food Hall
  • Pomfret Dining Hall
  • Fulbright Dining Hall

These items are available to anyone who wants to show their support and participate in raising awareness. Wearing a ribbon or sticker is a simple but visible way to engage with SAAM initiatives and show a commitment to learning. Remember to wear teal—or your Team Teal ribbon—every Tuesday this month to support the message of "Taking Every Action to Learn."

Throughout April, Campus Collaborative will also host a variety of programs and events in support of SAAM. These include educational workshops, information sessions and resource fairs focused on awareness, prevention and access to support.
