SDP Initiation Ceremony 2025

The U of A's chapter of Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honor Society held its spring semester induction ceremony on April 3. This semester, the university inducted six students who have demonstrated excellence in learning Spanish, as well as dedication to the study of Hispanic literatures and cultures.

The spring 2025 Sigma Delta Pi inductees are: Anna Davis (not pictured), Lauren Gonzalez, Tyler Lively, Abigail Moore, Hallee Sobin and Christian Sanchez.

The induction ceremony was conducted by chapter president Amelia Stevens, chapter treasurer Lucas Rocha Jaje and faculty adviser Rachel ten Haaf. After the reception, inductees as well as students from our campus community who are currently taking Spanish courses participated in the professional development event Making Your Spanish Degree Work for You with Brittany Johnson, director of communications for the local non-profit CACHE (Creative Arkansas Community Hub and Exchange) and founder of the pop-up bilingual bookstore Ambivert Books.

Sigma Delta Pi is an organization that provides networking, scholarship and leadership opportunities to students who have demonstrated academic excellence in the study of Spanish and Hispanic literatures and cultures. The U of A's chapter has won prestigious national prizes supporting undergraduate, graduate and faculty excellence.
