Graduating First-Generation Student Celebration
The Office of Transition Programs & Initiatives will host a celebration to honor the successes of graduating first-generation students and their families! We define "first-generation" as someone whose parent(s)/guardian(s) did not graduate from a four-year college or university.
We understand the journey it takes to be the first in your family to earn your degree, and it is an accomplishment that deserves to be celebrated! The celebration will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon Friday, May 9, with remarks from special guests beginning at 11 a.m. The event location will be sent to students via their UARK email once they RSVP.
At the celebration, students will receive a special "First-Generation Graduate" stole to wear at their commencement ceremonies! Refreshments will also be provided along with free swag and plenty of photo opportunities.
Because this is a catered event, students should submit an RSVP here by 5 p.m. Friday, May 2. We look forward to celebrating all of your accomplishments!
