EMPOWER Program Seeks U of A Students to Fill New In-House Mentorship Opportunities
The EMPOWER program is seeking U of A students to fill new in-house mentorship opportunities.
EMPOWER stands for Educate, Motivate, Prepare, Opportunity, Workplace readiness, Employment, Responsibility. It's a four-year, non-degree experiential learning program in the College of Education and Health Professions that incorporates functional academics, independent living, employment, health and wellness, and social skills within a university setting. Participants build skills, strong friendships and support structures for life.
In-house mentors live with students enrolled in the EMPOWER program.
"Being a residential mentor for EMPOWER is great," said student Debora Reyes. "Not only are you able to interact with people and make new friends, but you are also able to help students live independently who otherwise would not be at the university. EMPOWER directors also understand that residential mentors have classes and other work responsibilities, so it is a great program that works around your availability. Empower has made my experience at the University of Arkansas a million times better."
A residential mentor's room and board are paid as part of their commitment.
