Experience the Sri Lankan Immersion: Festival of the Sun

If you've always wanted to have an international experience, you can get a feel for it without even leaving town! The Office of International Students and Scholars is hosting a Cultural Immersion Program at the U of A from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, March 15, in the Arkansas Union Theatre.

Participants will experience the Sri Lankan New Year celebration through a cultural immersion reenactment. The Sri Lankan Student Association invites participants to learn about the traditional activities that occur during the Sri Lankan New Year celebration, Festival of the Sun.

Attendees will be immersed in Sri Lankan culture for a day by trying traditional holiday meals in a "home" setting, competing in festival games and enjoying dance performances from fellow community members!

The event is sponsored by the Sri Lankan Student Association, Office of International Students and Scholars and the Associate Student Government.

Those interested in attending can register online through Hogsync to enjoy the full immersion experience. Space is limited to the first 200 participants. Due to the immersive nature of the program, attendees are encouraged to stay for the entirety of the event.
