After a month of fluctuating temperatures, snow days and campus closures, the Office for Sustainability is excited to roll into spring at the March Cruise to Campus event, happening from 7:30-10 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, on Old Main Lawn. Join the campus bicycling community to welcome warmer weather and enjoy a morning of biking, community and good coffee.

As spring is just around the corner, more people are looking to dust off their bicycle and go for a ride. At this month's event, we'll be partnering with the Associated Student Government to distribute free bikes to students.

This past fall, ASG worked with local nonprofit Pedal It Forward to provide free bikes to qualifying students. The goal in doing so was to provide a low-cost mode of transportation to those most in need, while also promoting sustainable travel habits. Twenty-five students were selected, and their bikes have officially arrived on campus! Interested in learning how you too can apply for a free bike? Stop by Cruise to Campus for more information.

Cruise to Campus participants will be welcomed with complimentary coffee, breakfast and a chance to learn more about the benefits of alternative transportation. Whether you're looking to reduce your carbon footprint, save money or simply enjoy the outdoors more often, biking is a great way to make your daily commute more sustainable and enjoyable.

This event serves to connect bicyclists with others who are passionate about or interested in making more sustainable choices. Not only will you get to enjoy some good food and coffee, but you'll also have the chance to chat with fellow bicyclists, share knowledge and learn more about how you can continue to support sustainability on campus and beyond. So grab your bike, invite a friend and we'll see you on March 5, from 7:30-10 a.m., on Old Main Lawn!
