Adam Stoverink Recognized With February TFSC Cordes Chair
The Wally Cordes Teaching and Faculty Support Center recognized Adam Stoverink as the February 2025 Wally Cordes Chair.
Stoverink is the executive director of Walton M.B.A. programs and associate professor of management in the Sam M. Walton College of Business. He earned his Ph.D. in organizational behavior and human resource management from Texas A&M University's Mays Business School, M.B.A. from Saint Louis University's Chaifetz School of Business and B.S.B.A. in management from the University of Missouri's Trulaske College of Business.
Prior to joining the U of A in 2017, he served as assistant professor at Northern Illinois University. Stoverink has been teaching leadership and management courses at the undergraduate, graduate and executive levels for nearly 15 years. He also teaches a doctoral seminar on teaching at the college level to first-year Ph.D. students in the Walton College. His dedication to teaching excellence has earned him numerous recognitions, including M.B.A. Teacher of the Year (2021), induction as a Fellow into the U of A Teaching Academy (2022) and the Walton College Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award (2023).
Stoverink's Cordes Chair presentation on Feb. 10 included his perspective on a variety of topics related to making teaching a memorable experience for students. He demonstrated some of his ideas for encouraging engagement and participation on the first day of class. He emphasized the importance of passion, storytelling and constant adaptation. He discussed how he uses Bloom's taxonomy to guide teaching and assessment; how he uses cases, hands-on activities, simulations, role-playing, guest speakers and competitions in the classroom; and how he uses generative AI to support classroom material development.
