The School of Art in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences in collaboration with Historic Arkansas Museum presents Future in the Making, an exhibition featuring artwork and publications by art and design faculty across art education, art history, graphic design and studio art program areas.

Historic Arkansas Museum is home to a historic city block including the oldest building in Little Rock and galleries of Arkansas made art and history ranging from indigenous Arkansans to contemporary artists and artisans.

Future in the Making opens tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 8 with an opening reception from 5-8 p.m., coinciding with Little Rock's monthly Second Friday Art Night. The reception includes live music, refreshments and a chance to meet several of the faculty artist, designers, educators and historians featured in the exhibition. Admission to the gallery and event is free.

"We are so excited to have 51 faculty artists, designers and scholars featured in this exhibition at Historic Arkansas Museum," said Rachel Debuque, director of the School of Art. "Historic Arkansas Museum celebrates Arkansas's cultural and material heritage, creating a bridge between the past and present through historical artifacts and contemporary art. It is an honor for our faculty's work to be showcased here and celebrate the arts in Arkansas."

Embracing the theme of exploring the past and present, Future in the Making features innovative works engaging experimental methods, critical reflection and creative exploration, often blurring traditional boundaries.

All are invited to experience Future in the Making at the opening reception, Friday, Nov. 8, 2024, 5-8 p.m. The exhibition will be on display through Sunday, Aug. 10, 2025, at Historic Arkansas Museum, 200 E. 3rd St., Little Rock, Arkansas.
