The Stick and Treat: Flu Vaccine Clinic is Oct. 31 from noon to 3:30 p.m. on the first floor of the health center.

Flu season is here, and the best way to protect yourself and the campus community is by getting your annual flu vaccine. Medical Services at Pat Walker Health Center, in partnership with the Eleanor Mann School of Nursing, is excited to host this year's "Stick and Treat" flu vaccine clinic from noon to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31.

The clinic will be on the first floor near the Primary Care Clinic waiting area inside the health center. U of A students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend and receive their flu shot, if you have not already received it.

The clinic is a drop-in clinic and will be first come, first served. Hogs for Health, the liaison RSO to Pat Walker Health Center, will be passing out candy outside of the south entrance of the health center to those who receive their flu vaccine at the clinic.

What to Bring

Please make sure to bring your U of A ID card and insurance card to the clinic. If your insurance does not cover the flu vaccine or if you do not have insurance, a self-pay option will also be available.

About the Flu Vaccine

This year's flu vaccine is a trivalent flu vaccine injection, which is designed to protect against three different flu viruses, including two influenza A viruses and one influenza B virus.

Can't Make the Clinic?

If you are unable to attend the "Stick and Treat" flu vaccine clinic, you can still get vaccinated. The Allergy, Immunization & Travel (AIT) Clinic offers both the flu vaccine and the 2024-2025 Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. You can make an appointment at the AIT Clinic by scheduling via the Patient Portal or by calling 479-575-4451, option 1

Practice Good Hygiene

As always, the health center encourages everyone to practice good respiratory hygiene to prevent the spread of flu:

  • Avoid close contact with sick people.

  • Stay home if you are sick and remain fever-free without the use of fever-reducing medications such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen for at least 24 hours before returning to class or work.

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, and avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

  • Disinfect surfaces (including your phone) that may be contaminated with flu germs.
