2024 National Transfer Student Week Calendar

Join the offices of Student Engagement and Transfer Central in celebrating National Transfer Student Week, Oct. 21-25. As transfer student champions, the staff and faculty of the U of A are determined to build awareness of common transfer student barriers along with the diverse student needs and identities within our transfer populations.

National Transfer Student Week offers the perfect opportunity to highlight transition struggles and successes and unite our campus in advocating on behalf of our specific transfer population. Throughout the week, Student Engagement and Transfer Central will host a variety of events to celebrate and highlight U of A transfer students.

Below is the full schedule of events for National Transfer Week. Events indicated with *** require RSVPs and have limited space available. Sign up before it's too late!

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Monday, Oct. 21

TRANSFERable Skills with Career Connections
9:30-10:30 a.m., Arkansas Union 201
In this 50-minute interactive presentation, students learn four tips to create a "stand-out" resume and cover letter, including how to use keywords and accomplishment statements to tailor their resume to a position.

Flora in Fayetteville
2-4 p.m., Arkansas Union 201
A service project regarding the different invasive species and how to ID them, as well as going on a tour to identify some of them in our campus. Students will also help with the removal along the Oak Ridge trail, which runs through campus.

Transfer Student Mixer @ Ozark Bowling***
7-9 p.m., 2300 N. College Ave.
Join us for a fun-filled evening at the Transfer Student Mixer! Perfect for new students looking to make connections, this event is designed to help you meet fellow transfer students in a relaxed and enjoyable environment. Enjoy FREE bowling while mingling with other transfer students. To make the night even sweeter, food and drink will be provided! Space is limited so be sure to RSVP to secure your spot.

Honors 101 for Transfer Students

Learn how to enroll in the Honors College at the U of A!

Wednesday, Oct. 23

Lunch With the Vice Chancellor***
Noon to 1 p.m., Arkansas Union
Are you a U of A transfer student? Do you want to have a sit-down lunch with Jeremy Battjes, the vice chancellor of student affairs for the university? Sign up to enter the chance to be one of the 10 lucky transfer students invited to Lunch With the Chancellor! At noon Oct. 18, 10 lucky transfer students will be chosen at random to be invited to lunch on Oct. 23. To enter, visit the HogSync Event Page. Only transfer students are eligible to enter. Dietary restrictions can be indicated on the form, and alternatives will be available upon request.

Swag Swap
10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Silas Hunt Hall
Stop by Silas Hunt Hall. Current students who transferred to the U of A can show us an item from their old school and get something branded with the U of A. Your UARK student ID is required.

Transfer Night at Razorback Soccer
6:30 p.m., Razorback Soccer Field
We're celebrating National Transfer Student Week at Razorback Soccer Field by honoring all transfer students and transfer student athletes. Come cheer on the No. 1-ranked soccer team in the country! All attendees will get free Razorback soccer items, sit in the VIP section of the stands and have a chance to compete in the halftime games! Free entry with student ID at the entrance.

Friday, Oct. 25

S'More Love for Transfer Students
9 a.m. to noon, Arkansas Union Connections Lounge
Join us for an evening of warmth, connection and delicious s'mores at our annual "S'More Love for Transfer Students" event! Designed especially for those who have made the leap to our campus, this gathering is a heartwarming opportunity to meet fellow transfer students, share experiences on our interactive Transfer Board, connect with staff and faculty from across the university and enjoy some sweet treats! Let's create a supportive community that shines with "s'more" love for everyone who has chosen to call the U of A home.
