Nominations Open Through Friday, Oct. 11, for U of A Disability Awareness Recognition Awards

The third annual University of Arkansas Disability Awareness Recognition Awards committee is still accepting nominations for this year's awards, but nominations close at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11. These awards honor people who have promoted a culture of accessibility and inclusion on the UA campus. Students, staff, faculty and community partners who have worked to improve accessibility of the campus and University programs, and those who have done the hard work to ensure inclusion and full participation of people with disabilities within our campus community are all eligible nominees. The awards ceremony is an in-person event from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Arkansas Union rooms 507. Chancellor Charles Robinson will offer remarks to open the ceremony. Additionally, noted disability rights leader, Lex Frieden will discuss the importance of advocacy, and the ADA via video remarks. Awardees will be celebrated and presented their awards at the event. Beverages and appetizers will be served.

The awards ceremony is the closing event in the University's month-long celebration of the National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) activities.
