Dr. Angela Curry is a new gynecologist in the GYN (Women's) Clinic on campus.

Dr. Angela Curry is a new medical provider in the Medical Services Department at Pat Walker Health Center. Curry joined the GYN (Women's) Clinic staff as a gynecologist earlier this fall semester.

Curry is a board-certified gynecologist who earned her medical degree at Vanderbilt University and served in the United States Air Force as an obstetrician-gynecologist (OB-GYN). She has provided gynecology care for over 30 years, most recently at the Renaissance Women's Clinic in Fayetteville. She was voted Best OB-GYN in Northeast Arkansas by the readers of AY Magazine in 2016.

"We are excited to welcome Dr. Angela Curry to our medical team!" said Dr. Huda Sharaf, medical director for Medical Services. "With her extensive clinical expertise in women's health, Dr. Curry is dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive care to all her patients."

The medical clinics are an integral part of the Division of Student Affairs priority of well-being for the U of A community. With the unique needs of each patient in mind, the GYN (Women's) Clinic provides comprehensive and personalized health care for the university community using best practices in gynecological health services. Students, faculty, and staff can be seen at the GYN (Women's) Clinic and can make an appointment via the Patient Portal or by calling 479-575-4478. All medical clinics bill with insurance or self-pay is an option.

Curry shared insight on what she hopes to accomplish during her time on campus.

"The most important reason that I was attracted to our university health care clinic is that it enables me to meet and educate young women on the importance of reproductive and sexual health," said Curry. "So many women on campus have never had an opportunity to consult with a women's health care provider before coming to college."

In addition to students, the medical clinics at Pat Walker Health Center can see faculty and staff as well. Many patients from the Northwest Arkansas community who are also U of A employees were happy to be able to keep Curry as their gynecologist when they learned that she was joining the GYN (Women's) Clinic staff at the U of A. "I encourage all students and faculty to become familiar with our services. I am thrilled to be a part of the team," said Curry.

An important tip that Curry likes to remind all her patients is that "social media and the internet are not always reliable sources of information." Curry believes her role as a gynecologist is rewarding because "it is exciting to sit down with a patient and have a one-on-one conversation that will make a lifelong impact on her health."
