The U of A Humanities Center (UAHC) is happy to announce their fall funding competitions to help support humanities research. All U of A faculty of any standing working with humanities content are encouraged to apply.

*NEW* UAHC Research Fellows

The UAHC will provide teaching release for two U of A humanities faculty per academic year to serve as UAHC Fellows. The UAHC will pay the home departments of fellows $10,000 + fringe to buy out teaching to give fellows a semester without teaching or a reduction of two courses over the course of the year as agreed upon between the fellow, their chair and the center. Faculty of all standing are encouraged to apply.

UAHC Summer Research Fellowships

The UAHC will provide two summer research fellowships of up to $5,000 each for humanities faculty. These funds must be used for research expenses, such as travel or materials, and cannot be used as salary replacement.

UAHC Publishing/Subvention/Presentation/Distribution Grants

Five awards of up to $1,000 each can be used to defray production costs associated with humanities research publications, presentations or scholarly products. Permissible expenses include obtaining publication rights for art works, purchase of high-resolution visuals, translation costs, creation of maps by a third party, design of graphs or charts by a third party, podcast production costs, presentation expenses or other justified field-specific expenditures.

UAHC Outreach Incentive Funds

Two grants of up to $2,500 are available for U of A faculty to support humanities-focused, community-based events for the campus or the region. These events should include humanities and interdisciplinary content and focus on outreach to a broad constituency.

Proposals should be uploaded to the UARK InfoReady portal by end of day Nov. 1, 2024: https://uark.infoready4.com/.

The UAHC also provides co-sponsorships for workshops, talks and events on a rolling deadline and accepts applications for matching funds for external grants. Please see the website for application instructions or reach out to uahc@uark.edu.
