A Conversation With Prize-Winning Peruvian Author Iván Thays
Erika Almenara from the Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures invites you to attend Peruvian writer Iván Thays' talk, "The Everyday of Words." The talk will address Thays' creative process as well as the current state of Latin American literature.
The talk, followed by Q&A with Thays, will take place Thursday, March 28, 2 p.m. at the World Languages & Digital Humanities Studio located in the J.B. Hunt Center for Academic Excellence building in room 207, next to Kimpel Hall. Light refreshments will be provided.
Thays hails from Lima, Peru, and has had a lengthy career publishing novels, short stories and essays. He holds a B.A. from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and has taught at this university as well as conducted creative writing and reading workshops at different institutions. His blog Moleskine is one of the foremost literary blogs on the web. During eight years, Thays conducted a literary critical television program Vano Oficio. Thays has won several international prizes for his literary work, including the Prince Claus Award, the Rómulo Gallegos Prize and the prestigious Premio Herralde de Novela.
