World Languages and Digital Humanities Studio to Host DH Meet-Up on Izi.Travel
Left to Right: Alena Shestopalova, Daniela D'Eugenio and Yosr Mehri presenting on Izi.Travel at the World Cultures & DH Futures Project Pitch hosted by the WLDH Studio on Sept. 28.
On Thursday, March 28, the World Languages and Digital Humanities Studio will host a Digital Humanities Meet-Up titled "Audio Tours with Izi.Travel for World Languages and Cultures," featuring Studio FLTA Alena Shestopalova (FLTA, WLDH Studio) and Daniela D'Eugenio (professor of Italian).
Izi.Travel is a digital tool with which users can build interactive maps around the world with images, audio files, descriptions and interactive maps. D'Eugenio has implemented Izi.Travel in her Italian Conversation and Advanced Conversation courses with the help of Shestopalova and the studio team.
D'Eugenio and Shestopalova's research with izi.Travel was originally proposed at the DH Meet-Up: World Cultures & DH Futures Project Pitch held on Sept. 28, 2023, and placed third overall for a funding award. Utilizing the application effectively in world languages courses directly aligns with Student Success Initiatives put forth by the U of A.
Join us at the World Languages and Digital Humanities Studio. J.B. Hunt Center 207, from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. on March 28 to learn more about this digital tool and how to integrate it in the classroom. The talk will be followed by a hands-on workshop in which participants will create an Izi.Travel guide for Fayetteville or their hometown!
