U of A Community Invited to Farewell Reception for Marweta Haegele
After more than 20 years at the U of A, HR partner Marweta Haegele has accepted an opportunity at Teen Challege Adventure Ranch in Morrow, Arkansas.
The campus community is invited to celebrate Haegele's achievements and to wish her well during a drop-in reception from 2-3:30 p.m. today, Monday, March 25, in the Administration Building lobby.
"The Division of Advancement and the University of Arkansas are better off because of Marweta's service here, and though her departure is bittersweet, we are happy for Marweta and her next chapter," said Scott Varady, vice chancellor for advancement.
Haegele first joined the university in 1988 with the Department of Economics and Rural Sociology. She left the position temporarily to run a family business and complete a Bachelor of Science in middle level education. In 2007, she joined University Advancement. Throughout the course of her tenure, Haegele held different positions supporting the division in human resources and business management, administrative services and change management. She played a key role in establishing the Advancement Division's Gift Administration, Research and Information Technology Department in 2011.
"I have enjoyed my years and will cherish everyone across campus that I have worked with and had adventures with, but I also know it is time for me to take my next step," she said. "I've experienced many funny moments through the years, with plenty of stories to tell, and made a lot of amazing memories with countless coworkers and supervisors — some of which include mishaps during escapades on golf carts around campus."
Haegele will fondly remember those she worked with in her most recent roles in Human Resources, working as director of change management and then as the HR partner for Advancement.
"The grace and relationship-building among all of the HR partners will always stand out to me," she said. "Through these positions, I was fortunate to meet many respected people such as Joe Cordi, Michelle Hargis Wolfe, Tina Paul, Leslie Pounds, Kathy Riggle, Glennia Hunt, Rhonda Houser and many more. All of the HRP's are intelligent, personable and fun. They made challenging circumstances enjoyable. Of course working with Scott Varady and his team is always a pleasure — he is one of the hardest-working, kindest and most intelligent people that I've ever worked with."
Haegele's last day at the university will be March 31.
