Speech and Debate Team Among Top 10 in Country for Second Year in a Row

The U of A Speech and Debate Society proudly announces the official team rankings for the fall semester. All rankings are compared amongst teams and other individual students across the country.  

Individual Rankings: 

Colten Nichols, sophomore — Ninth Place Debater, Novice Division

Megan Dial, senior, president — Ninth Place Debater, Junior Varsity Division 

Hadley Adkison, junior, forensics captain — Fourth Place Speaker, Varsity Division

Jaci Sabatini, junior, social media chair — Second Place Debater, Professional Division

Hadley Adkison, sophomore, treasurer — Fourth Place, Team Division

Team Rankings: 

Junior Varsity Division Squad: Ninth Place

Professional Division Squad: Seventh Place 

Team Division Squad: Sixth Place

Scholastic Award: Ninth Place

Founder's Award: Eighth Place 

The team, which was originally founded in 1896, has grown significantly since reinstalling in spring of 2021, jumping from nine active members in spring of 2022 to 32 at the end of this fall semester. The team competed in four tournaments this semester and looks to compete in five more regular season tournaments in the spring before concluding their season at the national competition in Starkville at Mississippi State University. 

The team would like to thank the History Department for its continuing support.
