The Division of Student Affairs is excited to welcome Jackie Micheletto as the new assistant vice chancellor for financial affairs. Micheletto fills the position left vacant by Jeremy Battjes when he was named vice chancellor for student affairs by Chancellor Charles Robinson earlier this year.

Micheletto has a long history with the university and most recently was the associate director for financial affairs for the College of Education and Health Professions. She brings a lot of experience and passion for the Razorback family to her new role with Student Affairs.

Micheletto started her career with the U of A as a work-study student who had a child at home and one on the way. She worked part-time in the Office of the Assistant Dean for Administration for the College of Education and Health Professions in 2007, while pursuing her undergraduate degree.

"I worked as a student employee that spring semester and into the summer. By end of summer, the department had a full-time accountant position become available. The people I worked with made me feel welcomed and really want to work with them and for the university. They had a major impact on my life," Micheletto said.

She got the job and continued her schoolwork at the same time. Once she graduated with her degree in business in 2012, Micheletto left her accounting job at the university "to put my marketing degree to use," she said. But soon realized that was a mistake and came back to the university in 2013.

"I love the culture here! It's an open environment, full of driven and caring individuals, offers the perfect work-life balance, and I enjoy seeing the passion everyone has for making the university great and helping students succeed," Micheletto said. "This is work with a purpose. Everyone on campus plays a role in the overall success of the university as well as the success of our students."

Micheletto is excited about her new position as assistant vice chancellor for financial affairs and has responsibility for the division's human resources and information technology areas in her new role.

"I've had great mentors along the way who understood that I am always ready to learn something new, that I like to challenge myself, and trusted me enough to continue to bring me into new roles and projects," Micheletto said. "I know the work I will be providing to the Division of Students affairs will be an extension of the work and practices I have been doing for years."

Battjes said he is thrilled to have Micheletto on board and appreciates the experience and knowledge she brings to the Division of Student Affairs. Having been a student staff member and working her way up through various positions gives her a unique perspective.

"Not only does Jackie have the skills and expertise to take on the financial side of the division, but she brings her experience as a student staff member to the table. In our work as student affairs professionals, this kind of experience helps her understand the needs of students because she has lived it," Battjes said.

"I want to continue collaborative efforts across the division's units to streamline day-to-day operations, be a resource for the division staff and build strategic initiatives that will prepare us not only for our current needs, but also the needs of the future," she said.

Micheletto was born and raised in Arkansas. She holds two degrees from the U of A, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in Operations Management. She and her partner, Terrell, have three children. "We are lucky to live in such a beautiful state that provides many ways to enjoy the outdoors," she said. "I like to travel, enjoy live music and enjoy reading in my spare time as well."
