Explore the United States this month at University Housing's and the Office International Students and Scholars's signature program, Global Series: USA Day.

The evening starts at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 13, in the Holcombe Hall living room.

There will be interactive state booths to visit as well as performances and samples of famous regional dishes like Yarnell's Ozark Black Walnut Ice Cream from Arkansas and the Detroit Coney Dog from Michigan. This is a collaboration between the International Culture Team and University Housing that allows Americans to share their life experiences and diverse culture within the United States.

Senior Matilda Rydell is coming back for a third year as a presenter for Washington D.C.

"When I learned that USA Day did not have a presenter for our nation's capital, I felt like it would be appropriate to take on this presentation. I wanted to use this opportunity to showcase our nation's culture to international students. Specifically, I wanted to highlight the huge contributions the Native American and Black communities have had on the development of our nation, which can be seen in the dish I serve at my table," Rydell said.

"I think USA Day is an amazing way for everyone to learn about our country!"

There will be representatives from many American states.

This event is open to all within the community. Attendees are also encouraged to bring friends and engage for a night of fun learning, activities, food and dancing.
