The U of A is working to improve campus with several construction projects over the summer.

Union Station

Construction on the Union Station will begin at the end of May. Vestibules with airlocks are going to be added to all entrances to help heating and air-conditioning units function more efficiently, which will conserve energy. Only the east-side entrance of the Union Station will be available for the summer.

Parking Garages

The Garland Avenue and Stadium Drive garages will undergo construction to each level, starting from the top and moving down to the first floor throughout the summer. Parking will continue to be available for all parts of the garage not being worked on at the time.

Parking Lots

Construction work is planned for parking lots 19E, 25, 26, 41, 43, 55 and 64 to patch asphalt and cracks. Other various smaller maintenance projects are scheduled throughout other campus lots this summer. Permit holders for these specific lots will be notified directly ahead of time with a different parking lot they can temporarily relocate to during construction work.

Roads

The circle drive at the Graduate Education building will be repaired this summer. The project will take place in two phases, with the first phase blocking the entrance to the west side parking lot by Peabody Hall and the Army ROTC Building. Those who need the accessible parking spaces will be redirected to spaces at the sorority houses in Lots 33 and 34 across Maple Street until phase one is finished.

Trails

The Oak Ridge Trail will be extended from just west of the National Pan-Hellenic Council Garden to the Stadium Drive garage as part of an effort to achieve a continuous trail throughout campus.

Senior Walk

The next addition of the Senior Walk is going to be prepared for the section of Maple Street from Razorback Road to Garland Avenue. Pedestrian access on the north side of Maple Street will be impacted, and traffic will be reduced to a single west-bound lane.

Elevator

The elevator in the Administration Building will be unavailable for much of the summer to allow for repairs.

Entrances

The engraved, blue stone pavers at the entrance of the Pi Beta Phi Centennial Gate will be removed and repaired. This will impact vehicular access to campus drive from Maple Street but will not affect pedestrian access.
