Tony Morris Named Director of Spirit Programs and Community Outreach

Tony Morris has been named the new director of spirit programs and community outreach at the U of A.

Morris joins the Razorbacks after nearly four years at James Madison, where he served as the Dukes' spirit coordinator and head cheerleading coach. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Fayetteville, having coached at multiple levels, including sideline and all-star, while improving the gameday atmosphere and fan experiences at numerous stops in his career.

Prior to his time at James Madison, Morris was the head cheer coach and spirit coordinator at Upper Iowa. He helped resurrect the Peacocks' cheer program, transforming it into a varsity sport within the athletics department. Morris also coached for nearly five years at the University of Iowa, assisting the spirit team at Big 10 athletic events and NCAA tournaments. He spent three years as the head cheer coach and spirit coordinator at Tabor College in Kansas (2012-14), earning Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2014.

Before moving into the collegiate ranks, Morris spent 12 years teaching and coaching high school competitive cheer at Perry High School in Georgia. He led the Panthers to three state championships and multiple regional titles. He also coached six years at John Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana.

Morris earned his bachelor's degree in early childhood education from Bethel College, where he also cheered for the Pilots. He later added a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in sports administration in 2018 from Upper Iowa.

A native of South Bend, Indiana, Morris is engaged to Angelina Hammons.
