Incoming ASG President Has Roots as University Housing Student Leader

Cael Losenegger, a University Housing student leader from Monroe, Wisconsin, will serve as the new Associated Student Government president for the coming academic year.

"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue serving our student body through the ASG presidency. My time living and working in University Housing has provided me with significant opportunities and experiences to grow as a leader and connected me with individuals and resources that have prepared me to best represent my peers," Losenegger said.

This achievement comes after Losenegger's remarkable leadership journey within two of University Housing's registered student organizations, Lead Hogs and Residents' Interhall Congress, said Cecilee Essary, University Housing's student leadership coordinator.

During his first year, he participated in the Lead Hogs leadership development program and was an active member in building the Hotz Honors Hall community. He also served as a Residents' Interhall Congress hall representative for Hotz Hall and received the "Most Engaged Rep" award.

His hard work and dedication led him to be elected as the RIC president for the 2021-2022 year.

Losenegger led the RIC executive team to rebuild the organization after the effects of the pandemic on membership and engagement.

He was elected to a second term as RIC president, where he continued to grow the organization to record-breaking participation in the number of bills and resolutions that are designed to advocate for the needs of students.

Losenegger worked to bridge the gap between students and administration by building trust and strong relationships during his two years in the RIC president position.

He also represented the U of A at both regional and national levels through participation in regional and national housing conferences.

Throughout his involvement, he demonstrated strong leadership skills and an unwavering commitment to promoting the voice of the on-campus student, Essary said.

The University Housing staff is excited to see how he advocates for the voice of all students through his new role as ASG president.

With his experience in leadership and student government, he is well-equipped to take on this new role and continue to make a positive impact on campus, Essary said.
