The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), will perform an annual remote, web-based assessment to ensure the U of A Police Department is continuing to meet state-of-the-art accreditation standards in four areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations and support services.

As part of the assessment, UAPD employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments regarding the UAPD's ability to meet the required standards via the CALEA Public Access Portal between now and June 20, 2023.

CALEA's accreditation program is a highly prized recognition of law enforcement professional excellence that strengthens an agency's reputation and relationships within the community. The program's standards clearly define authority, performance and responsibility, and can limit an agency's liability and risk exposure by ensuring it demonstrates internationally accepted standards for law enforcement.

Accreditation status lasts four years with annual reports and participation in annual remote, web-based assessments. UAPD became the first police department in Arkansas to receive CALEA recognition in 1995.
