Voice Professor Returns From Critically Acclaimed Performances in Missouri and Virginia

Jonathan Stinson, baritone.

Jonathan Stinson, teaching assistant professor of voice at the U of A, recently returned to Fayetteville following performances with Ozarks Lyric Opera in Springfield, Missouri, and with the Belvedere Chamber Music Series in Richmond, Virginia.

Ozarks Lyric Opera presented Mozart's Don Giovanni on March 17-18, where Stinson sang the role of Leporello alongside internationally acclaimed bass-baritone Ben Wager in the titular role. Stinson then traveled to Virginia on March 26 to perform a guest recital with pianist Dr. Ingrid Keller. The program featured Beethoven's An die ferne Geliebte, Mahler's Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen and the world premiere of Stinson's own monodrama, Uncivil Relief. Set during the 2008 housing market crash, Uncivil Relief tells the story of a US soldier who returns from Afghanistan just as his house is being foreclosed upon, forcing him to "trade one battlefield for the next."  

This summer, Stinson will return to Delaware Valley Opera in New York to sing the role of Marcello in Puccini's La bohème and to stage-direct a production of his own one-act children's opera The Three Bears. Stinson is represented by MIA Artists Management in New York City.
