UARK Wellness Lounge Officially Open; Open House April 5
The new Wellness Lounge at UARK Wellness, located on the second floor of the Pat Walker Health Center.
UARK Wellness is excited to host an open house for the new Wellness Lounge on the second floor of the Pat Walker Health Center at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5.
The Wellness Lounge is intended to be a safe space to support students in their overall well-being and success as a student. Students will find the lounge as a place to relax, enjoy a tea, read, pick up wellness resources, study and chat with friends.
Students are welcome to drop by the lounge for a well-being break to ask staff and our peer educator team about our wellness resources, programs and services.
UARK Wellness now offers five new presentations in addition to our eight dimensions of wellness presentation. Each of these topics was chosen by our peer educators and are engaging topics that students may want to learn more about. The new presentation topics are as follows:
- Assertiveness & Self-Confidence
- Academic Struggles & Burnout
- Campus Community Involvement
- Mindfulness & Self-Care
- Self-Gratitude & Emotional Awareness
"I love being able to give the wellness presentations because we talk about such a diverse range of topics with the students," said Karlie Barnett, UARK Wellness peer educator and history and political science major. "I've had many students comment on the relevancy of the presentations to their own personal lives, and further express their enthusiasm to try out the various tools we give them to take on these topics. It's awesome to be able to help my peers while also learning more about wellness myself."
UARK Wellness also offers one-on-one wellness coaching with one of our certified wellness coaches.
Wellness coaching is designed to help U of A students improve their lifestyle behaviors so that they are living well consciously and mindfully. Wellness coaches will help students identify their strengths and create a behavior change plan to improve their academic performance and overall satisfaction with life.
More information about the UARK Wellness offerings can be found at wellness.uark.edu, which serves as an outreach tool and resource bank for the campus community.
