Women Empowerment Series: Mental Health With LPC Joi McGowan

Please join the Multicultural Center in a conversation on women's experiences navigating mental health led by Licensed Professional Counselor Joi McGowan. The event will be held in the Multicultural Center classroom located in the Union room 403 on Feb. 16, from 6-8 p.m. Food and refreshments will be provided.

McGowan is from the south suburbs of Chicago and a current Northwest Arkansas resident. She has a master's in mental health counseling from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. She has worked in the mental health field for the last eight years, including working with couples, adolescents, youth of all ages and adults. She has experience working with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and domestic violence. She is the co-founder of Resilient Black Women, INC, a non-profit designed to advocate for Black women, women of color and all women seeking mental health. She co-hosts the podcast Resilient Black Women on KUAF, where she discusses mental health from the perspective of a Black woman professional therapist.
