Division of Student Affairs Scholarships Are Open: Apply Now

The Division of Student Affairs has many scholarships for students attending the U of A, and those scholarships are now open for students to apply.

Each year, Student Affairs awards dozens of scholarships to students for many different reasons. While these scholarships do require good academic standing, many of them also recognize leadership, student involvement and community service experiences at the U of A. A high GPA is not required to apply or receive most of these awards.

"All U of A students should review the scholarship options from the Division of Student Affairs because there is quite a variety available," said Erin Butler, chief of staff for Student Affairs. "Students should also look for scholarships within their college, as well as outside of the university."

Last school year the Division of Student Affairs awarded 216 scholarships for a total of $206,450. The amount and number of recipients selected to receive each scholarship are based on the applicant pool each year and other factors. 

"If you are a student, I encourage you to apply now, and if you're a friend of the university, I encourage you to support these students through a donation to one of our many scholarships," said Ben Carter, senior director of development for Student Affairs.

Many of the current scholarship applications close on Feb. 13. Students who apply for a Student Affairs scholarships now will be notified of their award status at the end of spring semester. All current scholarships will be awarded for Fall 2023, with a couple exceptions as noted on the scholarship applications.

"When you make a gift to Student Affairs, you are making a positive impact on another person's life. The generosity of our alumni, faculty, staff and friends supports students to ensure they have every available resource to succeed on and off campus," Carter said. "Not only do these scholarships help students who have the greatest needs, but they positively impact the lives of those donors who choose to support and create these scholarships to help those students."

"As a minority and daughter of immigrant parents, education has been a tool of empowerment, a form for me to grow as an individual and give back," said Lesly Cruz, winner of the Williams Family Scholarship in 2022. "This scholarship will make a difference in my personal life by giving me the reassurance that I will have the chance to continue my education."

"I'm the first in my family to attend college, so this is definitely an achievement I want to accomplish, not only for me but for my mother," said Angell Correa, winner of a 2022 Advanced Arkansas Scholarship. "As a result of this scholarship, I will be able to meet my financial needs (for attending the U of A)."
