Human resource professionals can take continuing education courses through the U of A.

The last day for early bird registration to the 2023 SHRM Learning System for SHRM-CP / SHRM-SCP course is Dec. 18. This 15-week program is ideal for human resource professionals wishing to update their HR knowledge or prepare for certification exams. Participants will receive instruction from experts in the industry, gain access to web resources and mobile applications, study in a structured learning environment and potentially build a peer network.

Participants can register online for the 2023 SHRM Learning System. It will meet every Thursday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2 through May 18. Attendees can connect live online or meet face-to-face in a classroom at the Global Campus facility in Bentonville. Those unable to attend live classes can also log on anytime, from anywhere, to view the recorded sessions via Blackboard Collaborate once each session has posted. Registered participants have 10 months to access and complete the program.

The program is offered in partnership with SHRM (the Society for Human Resource Management), the Arkansas State Chapter of SHRM and the Northwest Arkansas Human Resources Association. The U of A is the only SHRM education partner in the state, with certification exam pass rates that consistently exceed the national average.

For this year's exam window between May 1 and July 15, the U of A pass rate on the SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) exam is 80%, and the U of A pass rate on the SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) exam is 75%. That compares with the national average of 65% and 46%, respectively.

The classes are designed for human resource professionals preparing to take the SHRM-CP or the SHRM-SCP certification exam administered by SHRM. The program includes 15 class sessions, SHRM Learning System books, a high-level review of course material, interactive discussions and learning activities focused on the practical application of HR competencies and knowledge, sample assessment questions, and study and test-taking tips.

The early bird cost of $1,224 — a $215 savings over the regular price of $1,439 — is available until Dec. 18. For those who register after Dec. 18, a 10% discount is available to U of A faculty, staff, students and Alumni Association members. Potential exists for qualified individuals to receive free training through the Reimagine Arkansas Workforce Project.

Please note the course investment does not cover certification exam fees.

Free information sessions are scheduled for Jan. 12 and 26 for those who wish to know more prior to the actual course.
