Libraries to Present 'Ozark Holiday Foodways and Traditions' Webinar Nov. 3

Join Arkansas Folk and Traditional Arts for the webinar "Ozark Holiday Foodways and Traditions" with Rachel Reynolds from 3-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3. This event is free and open to the public, and registration is required.  

Reynolds will speak on the folklore and history of traditional holiday foodways in Arkansas, focusing on the Ozark region, and will also include tips for preparing a dish from her own kitchen.

Reynolds is a fiddler, print artist and folklorist with a background in art, cultural policy and arts-focused grassroots organizing in underserved communities.  

Reynolds received a B.A. in American studies from the U of A and M.A. degrees in public history and heritage studies from Arkansas State University. She has received fellowships from the Southern Foodways Alliance to document Arkansas barbecue and was in the first cohort of Creative Community Fellows through National Arts Strategies. Her arts- and food-focused project, the Oregon County Food Producers and Artisans Co-Op, has been featured in Mother Earth News, Rural Missouri and Acres U.S.A., among other print and online publications. 

In 2015, she founded the #NotMyOzarks campaign to counter anti-racial sentiment in the Ozarks region. Currently, she is the head project steward of cultural programs at Meadowcreek, Inc., a 1,600-acre nature preserve dedicated to sustainable rural enterprise, and the principal and founder of Cultural Continuum Consulting. Reynolds is a frequent presenter on topics of cultural sustainability and rural art and culture at conferences across the country, a member of the International Creative Placemaking Leadership Council and a co-founder of The People's Library.
